The St Thomas Rail Trail

I finally got around to running the St Thomas rail trail, which runs basically from St Thomas to Ridgetown.

This is a bit more challenging than your standard rail trail as it is rutted in many areas. It was also very wet when I rode it, so I couldn't see the ruts.

Beaver Valley Exploration

Friday, May 6, 2016, went out for a ride with vague knowledge of some tracks in the Beaver Valley. We ended up riding up and down the escarpment on various roads and trails. Here is the story:

The first offroad bit was a little water crossing, some uphill, and a muddy track:

Heading towards the Beaver Valley we took a rail trail... that is not much more than a road without traffic... but gets us where we want to go:

Leading off the rail trail was an ATV trail... which lead to a plowed field crossing and another water crossing:

From here we checked out some ski hills:

Moving along... we did a bunch of escarpment exploring until we did this uphill challenge leading to a section of the Bruce Trail.

Sure, I made it up fine... Chase however slipped out and cracked his clutch case on a rock:

Which he fixed with some JB Weld, but killed off the daylight hours forcing us to head home:

Creemore Ride

Went for a ride so Chase could try out the DRZ he just bought. We were nearly at the trails, stopping for gas, when I noticed 'Dualsport' Bob's bike in front of the Tim Hortons beside the gas station... so of course I went in to chat, and Bob decided to come along as well.

Here is the route overview:

So, motoring along... the first really fun bit was the downhill section near the Mansfield Ski Hill just South of Creemore.

I am playing around with mounting a camera on my bike, unfortunately the video is very shaky because my bike is very shaky. I also had to degrade the quality to upload to youtube... full quality was taking forever.

Here is the downhill at Mansfield:

We had lunch at Creemore, Bob went home, and Chase and myself kept exploring.
Here was some sand pit we found near Creemore:

Then 1st Line:

I caught Chase on 1st Line at the Waterfall:

And finally we made it to the Hockley Valley Lookout:

One more video... playing around at the Lookout. I love this DRZ.
